Fred Brophy has the last touring boxing tent in the world, 4th generation Showman! He has been responsible for giving many vulnerable individuals an opportunity to be actively supported and avoid living on the streets and/or give them direction to achieve. His work in this area has seen him recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia and entry into the Queensland Boxing Hall of Fame. I have supported the tent since 2007 in community health programs including men's health. According to Charles Woolley from “60 Minutes” Fred should be my ”Poster Patient” - as any Doctor that can keep Fred alive is a legend!

I am a veteran having joined the Royal Australian Navy at the age of 15, serving 6 years as a medic reaching the rank of Leading Seaman Medic and having the fortune of serving in what some leaders in DVA refer to as the “period of great peace”, I have not seen active servce. However, as those with whom I served will attest, we trained and were skilled and ready for deployment in the service of our country and to protect the Freedoms enjoyed by all Australians today. As a proud Veteran, I have taken the opportunity of supporting veterans in their transition from defence and negotiating services and supports through the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). I was appointed to the Prime Ministers Advisory Council on Veterans Mental Health and continue on the National Advisory Council for Open Arms And Repatriation Pharmaceutical Reference Committee (RPRC). I am committed to the establishment of a GP Leadership group to advocate and navigate education and resourcing for GP’s and our teams to care for Veterans’ and Families - and am a proud inaugural member of the DVA GP Advisory Committee (GPAC) launched in 2023.
I am the National President of TINGIRA Australia Association representing the over 2000 men who joined the navy 15-16 years of age between 1960 and 1984
I am passionate to advocate for the promotion of the health and resilience building journey of many who serve in the Australian Defence Force and support them in their transition to civilian lives following service as mentors and reminders of the opportunities available through military service In Australia.
